System Center 2012 R2 App Controller

If you are considering a hybrid cloud setup within your organization, and already have System Center 2012 R2, you may want to take a look at the SC App Controller, if you aren't already for your other clouds. App controller's functionality comes through a rich UI experience provided by the SCAP Silverlight application. Compute related services (VMs, Storage, and Cloud Services) can be easily and quickly provisioned through this UI.  In my opinion, the Silverlight application is peppier than the Azure portal, which you may enjoy.

This is not a step-by-step guide, but in overview, all I had to do was Install the SCAC application and configure it.  The configuration involved grabbing my azure subscription ID.

Next, I created a self-signed certificate for my the server running SCAC.

Once this was done, I was able to administer my VMs and cloud services through the SCAC application. The layout of the resources has a remotely similar feel to the New Azure Portal.

All the things we need to do for deploying our services is present in the application.
