Complexity: The Landscape of the Uber-Vendors
No one would argue that Cisco is the supreme ruler of all things networkable, but even they fall victim of their own success. As Cisco builds on its SecureX product line, they have started to get lost in the weeds. Of SecureX, Ellen Messmsr writes, "The SecureX architecture has been called over-complicated [.]" It's not just the little guys that fall prey to architectural complexity. As a matter of fact, the franken-system's of large technology vendors tend to be made of elaborate webs of bubblegum and bandaids.
